🚲 Mayor's 80-Mile Ride for Parkinson's
Gedling's Mayor, Councillor Ron McCrossen, is taking on a serious challenge, cycling 80 miles from Nottingham to Skegness to raise funds for Parkinson's research. He aims to raise £1,000 through this event and is well over 70% of the way there. To learn more and for the link to Ron’s Just Giving page, see the link below.
🏛️ New Annual Pass for Wollaton Hall & Nottingham Museums
Wollaton Hall is introducing new admission plans, allowing adults to pay £15 for unlimited visits throughout the year, with free entry for accompanying children aged 15 and under. For the first time, Nottingham City Museums Service is also launching a £30 Adult Rover Ticket, giving year-round access to all three sites - Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Hall, and Newstead Abbey.
🏛️ Victoria Embankment Paddling Pool Set For Spring Reopening
After nearly four years dry, Nottingham’s much-loved Victoria Embankment Paddling Pool is finally set to reopen - hopefully by the early May bank holiday!
Closed since 2021 due to leaks and wear, the 1928-built splash pool has been getting a long-overdue upgrade thanks to government and lottery funding. Delays due to bad weather pushed things back, but the finish line is now in sight, according to the City Council. Looks like a proper splash-filled summer is back on the cards!

🎾 Warehouse Gets a Padel Tennis Makeover
A former factory on Daleside Road, Sneinton, could soon be home to Nottingham’s first dedicated padel tennis centre. Advantage Padel Ltd has submitted plans to transform the old Almor Limited site, which shut in 2022.
If approved, the venue will feature nine padel courts (seven indoor, two outdoor), a lounge café, gym, and changing facilities. The centre would operate 7am–10pm daily, with parking for 49 cars and space for four bikes. The site will also get a fresh look with timber cladding and new signage.
⛳ The Bunker: Golf Meets Bar
Attention golfers! A new indoor golf complex with a bar is landing in the city centre next month. The Bunker, already popular in Heanor, is bringing its high-tech golf experience to Nottingham. Located at 4 Longden Street, Sneinton, the venue is set to offer a relaxed space where beginners and pros alike can play on a cutting-edge simulator, compete with players worldwide, or get coaching from expert instructors.
🛒 Affordable Groceries Hit Arnold
A new community grocer has launched in Arnold, helping locals access affordable, healthy food. Running every Friday from 1pm to 2:30pm at Killisick Community Centre, it’s open to anyone within a two-mile radius. For just £4, residents can grab a weekly food box, supplied by Fareshare Midlands and packed by local volunteers.
