After a long wait, it seems that the wheels are finally in motion for redevelopment work to begin at The City Ground. According to a club announcement: “It remains the club’s ambition to redevelop the Peter Taylor Stand and there is a material prospect that we could start that work during the 2025/26 season”.

With the prospect of Champions League football a real possibility for Forest next season, hopefully it won’t be long before the club have a stadium befitting of Europe’s elite club competition.

Food and Drink 🍽️

The latest and greatest in Nottingham’s awesome food scene.

On Friday night we were lucky enough to be invited to The Seafood Guy, Nottingham’s Hong Kong-style diner on Castle Boulevard that’s got everybody talking.

We had a fantastic experience from the moment we arrived - Owner Johnny and the whole team were incredibly welcoming and their passion for fresh Hong Kong cuisine shone through. Having moved to Nottingham from Hong Kong a few years ago, Johnny’s mission is to bring the authentic flavours of his homeland to Nottingham and offer something different for people to experience. With so many great looking dishes on the extensive menu, choosing what to have was a near impossible task but after some recommendations from Johnny we settled on:

  • HK-Style Deep Fried Oyster Omelette - This is one of the signature dishes and we can totally see why! Despite being deep fried, the omelette was so light as well as being perfectly crispy and packed full of oysters. Although this was listed as a starter, it could easily pass as a very generous main course.

  • Deep Fried Salt & Pepper Squid Tentacles - This was quite simply some of the best squid we’ve ever tried! Deliciously crispy, perfectly seasoned and so fresh-tasting, it’s an absolute must-have if you’re dining at The Seafood Guy. Again, this is meant to be an appetiser but there was a mountain to get through!

  • Garlic Vermicelli Steamed Scallops - Rather than pan frying, Johnny and the team steam their scallops which makes for a beautiful fresh taste and soft texture. Topped with fresh vermicelli pasta and a homemade soy sauce, this dish was a real treat for the tastebuds and certainly didn’t last long.

  • Sweet & Sour Pork with Strawberry Sauce - This really had us intrigued having never seen or tried strawberry sauce with pork before. Unsurprisingly, though, it was absolutely delicious. The pork was so crispy, with the sweet and sour strawberry flavour the perfect accompaniment.

For photos of the night, keep an eye on our Instagram next week where we’ll be sharing the whole lot!

We were so impressed (and still have so many dishes we want to try) that we had to book a table to revisit next month! If you’re looking for a friendly atmosphere, delicious food and great service, The Seafood Guy is an absolute must! Don’t just take our word for it - Check out their Instagram to see more and to make a booking.
